hot pot & the sun-less beach

the day after i got back from sun moon lake... i had hot pot with the EAP kids.... all i have to say is... taiwan does hot pot so much differently than how i'm accustomed to...

mmm....

a haagen daaz buffet... O___O

all my favorite fruits in one place!

omg! dessert selection is off the heez!

AAAALLLLLLLLLL YYYOOOOOUUUUUU CCCCAAAAANNNN EEEEAAAAATTTTTT hot pot!!!!!

we all ate as much as we could in 2 hours.... the spicy pot was pretty spicy :/

lian wu.... or squishy apple... the best fruit in the whole world... literally!

we tried all the flavors of the haagen daaz ice cream... fatties.. we know....

yay for our table...

the vegetarians... lydia's got horns coming out of her head :)

and after hot pot.... i splurged at daiso... it's like the dollar store here.. but the stuff's really legit

she just doesn't wanna admit it...

and apparently she embraces it :) love you karen!

this was taken right before our wufenpu date on wednesday... she was all excited about colored contacts... before she got a massive headache from wearing them :)

and this is actually my campus... the school of social sciences... before i had my bike... i rode a shuttle from the main campus here everyday i had class :) gorg ....

and i was at my friend's dorm doing our homework.... and i was so fascinated by the stairs leading up to her bunkbed.... it doubles as shelves! so resourceful with space...

and on saturday... i went to yehliu and fulong beach with EAP kids and a ton of other international students....

the fanny pack chilled outside the main gate of NTU

and jeff... who was semi fanny pack since he had his backpack on....

the bus passed by my church :) .. well.. it's right across from campus

we were fed breakfast on the bus...

probably the most filling breakfast i've had in a while...

we passed by the beach on our way...

the weather sucked on saturday.... i was drenched half the day

and we got to destination #1 ... Yehliu geopark...

we watched a 10 minute history / informational movie about the park.....

and then karen and i went exploring...

so pretty... i bet it would have looked even prettier if the weather weren't so bad...

so the place has three distinct types of rocks.... i guess the most common were mushroom rocks ...

for some reason... i thought of harry potter the whole time i was here... probably because of the cave and the ominous weather ....

karen kept crossing the red line...

bridges!

this is the most famous of the mushroom rocks... by the time our kids get to see this... she'll be decapitated .... every year the wind and the water makes her neck thinner ... too bad!

mary poppins.... with a defective umbrella...

there were lots of fossils here... found a full sand dollar :)

we climbed this mountain.... probably the reason why i have so many bug bites on my right leg right now...

there were a lot of stairs... almost as much as ucla

but the view was so worth it! and we found the tofu.. i mean bean curd rocks...

and there was a pathway of plants :)

the surges from the waves were so strong....

and we finally found the candle rock!

lunchtime!

mmmm... it kept coming... :)

then karaoking old school chinese songs on our bus to our final destination.... Fulong beach.... being at the beach while it's raining is so disappointing :(

the org that planned the trip put on a talent show.... unfortunately no one signed up for any acts.... so it was the hosts performing at first.. but it got better :)

but it was a fun day :) and i was definitely looking forward to the karaoke sesh on the bus on our way back....

so da bien and i are going to HK this weekend... guess what my next post is gonna be about! :)
